Mehran Sahami

Mehran Sahami is a Professor and Associate Chair for Education in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University. He is also the Robert and Ruth Halperin University Fellow in Undergraduate Education. Prior to joining the Stanford faculty, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Google for several years. His research interests include computer science education, artificial intelligence, and web search. He has published over 50 technical papers and has over 20 patent filings on a variety of topics including web search, recommendation engines in social networks, and email spam filtering that have been deployed in commercial applications. In 2014, he received the ACM Presidential Award for his work in developing curricular guidelines for college programs in computer science at an international level. He was a co-founder of the ACM Conference on Learning at Scale, which has become an annual meeting focused on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of the learning sciences and computer science. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
