Nick is a Ph.D. student in the Classics Department at Stanford. His dissertation studies the relationship between the social organization of work and the structure of political institutions in Classical and Hellenistic Greek city-states. His current research uses methods from natural-language processing and statistical learning to facilitate the interpretation of large amounts of textual and archaeological evidence. He is generally interested in the history and sociology of work, and the question of how artificial intelligence will affect the future of work and democratic political institutions.
