Disagree with a professor
The Disagree with a Professor program seeks to connect students and faculty and provide an opportunity for spirited dialogue about provocative ideas. Students are invited to join a small table of no more than 7 students and 1 faculty member and discuss 3 controversial propositions that each faculty member is prepared to defend.
The event is typically hosted outside on Meyer Green with catered food and refreshments.
Here is a sample set of topics:
- Mail-in voting was a bad idea.
- We are less prepared for a global pandemic than ever before.
- Forget the Electoral College. We should abolish the presidency instead.
- History is determined by geography more than any other factor.
- We should let wildfires burn without intervention.
- Every student’s healthcare data should be available for research purposes without their informed consent.
- China will overtake the West before this century is over.
