An under-appreciated aspect of immigration control is its impact on the freedom and equality of citizens. Chandran Kukathas argues that the price of control is considerable, while the purported gains—economic, cultural, and political—are, at best, limited. 
 
Chandran Kukathas is the author of Hayek and Modern LiberalismThe Liberal  Archipelago, and most recently, Immigration and Freedom (Princeton UP 2021). He is Dean of the School of Social sciences at Singapore Management University, where he holds the Lee Kong Chian Chair in Political Science.
