The Public Interest Technology Organization is excited to announce that we will be hosting a career summit on October 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT at Tressider Union - Oak Lounge. 

The event will kick off with opening remarks, followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring industry leaders in public interest technology. After the panel, students will have the opportunity to visit company tables, network with representatives, and explore potential career paths. 

This year marks the launch of what we hope will become a signature annual event at Stanford, connecting students passionate about using technology to drive societal change with leading organizations in the field.

Introductions/Opening Remarks 

Speakers:

Katharina Koerner is an experienced professional in tech policy, privacy, AI regulation, and trustworthy AI. Based in Silicon Valley since 2020, she has led GDPR implementation as CEO of a multinational organization in Europe and developed AI governance frameworks at Western Governors University, serving over 175,000 students. As Principal Researcher at IAPP, she specialized in Privacy Engineering. Katharina holds a PhD in EU Law and certifications in privacy, security, and AI/ML. With a value-driven approach shaped by her work in Austrian Ministries, she excels in managing complex legal and tech landscapes and is a sought-after speaker with 40,000 LinkedIn followers.

Tara Chklovski is the Founder and CEO of Technovation - the world’s largest technology entrepreneurship program for girls. Technovation has empowered 400,000 participants across 120+ countries to tackle local problems using cutting-edge technologies (mobile and AI). Tara has been featured in the award-winning documentary Codegirl, and named “the pioneer empowering the incredible tech girls of the future” by Forbes. Technovation recently released a strategic plan to empower 25 million girls with AI & technology entrepreneurship skills over the coming years - to meet the UN 2030 Sustainable Development goals.
