Davey Kim
Assistant Director of Ethics, Society, and Technology Initiatives

As the Assistant Director of Ethics, Society, and Technology Initiatives, Davey works to incorporate ethical frames into institutional decision-making through education, professional development, and research programs.

He brings expertise on civil society with a special interest in institutional reform, intergroup tension and inequality, and democratic practice. Previously, he drove leadership development initiatives at The Asia Foundation, supporting the work of hundreds of emerging policy reformers, non-profit leaders, and social entrepreneurs from across Asia. He later managed donor education programs for Stanford’s Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (PACS), helping to develop the lab’s methodology on social sector effectiveness. Most recently, Davey finished a stint at Google, working in trust and safety content policy for Search and Generative AI products, with a special focus on representational fairness, public interest information, and mature content.

Davey has a Masters in conflict studies and human rights from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. When not in the weeds on technology and society, he is also interested in the politics of urban space: housing affordability and just urban design. In his spare time, you can find Davey in the ocean waiting for waves to surf.
