Dominic Zappia

Dominic serves as a Research Associate with the Technology Ethics & Policy Rising Scholars Program at the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society working with Professor Rob Reich. A Midwest native and graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dominic is excited to join the warm and welcoming Stanford community. With a B.A. in Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy, Dominic is drawn to questions that challenge boundaries. For his Senior Honors Thesis, Dominic combined philosophical scholarship in epistemology and democratic theory with data analysis to explore how digital design can promote democratic values. Exploring democracy outside the classroom, Dominic served as the Chair of UW-Madison's Student Government, where he represented the large and diverse student body through shared governance. Dominic is excited to explore how emerging technologies such as AI interact with democratic values, and how responsible governance can align the interests of industry, government, and the general public.
