Hilary Brumberg

Hilary Brumberg (she/her) is a PhD student in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER). She is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and a McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society Graduate Fellow. Her research explores the social and ecological dimensions of nature-based solutions, with a focus on how forest conservation and restoration initiatives are designed, financed, and governed. She is interested in the ethical questions that arise when valuing nature, allocating climate finance, and engaging communities in conservation. Her previous professional experience includes managing community-based reforestation projects in the Costa Rican rainforest and consulting for The Nature Conservancy and World Wildlife Fund.
