Maya Avital

Maya (she/her) is a senior from Orange County, California, studying Symbolic Systems HAI. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she's developed a deep interest in the ethical and sociological impact of digital technologies. In her work as a research assistant in the Stanford Social Media Lab, we are focusing on how misinformation manifests in people’s everyday lives, along with what implications the rise of AI poses for the information landscape. She is eager to merge this research experience with my passion for designing human-centered computational systems in her work with Mozilla on their responsible computing challenge project. Outside of class, you can find her in the pool playing goalie for the Stanford women's water polo team, hunting for new music, or going to concerts!
