Shelby Boulware-Johnson is a sophomore majoring in Philosophy and Computer Science with a concentration in Human Computer Interaction. Through growing up in North Carolina and navigating predominately white spaces as a black woman, she developed a passion for engaging with technology and policy solutions designed to serve and uplift marginalized communities. As a co-lead of the ACLU education committee, Shelby is passionate about exploring the intersection between systems of injustice and technological innovation, particularly the harms that can be perpetuated through biases in deep learning algorithms and the need for AI regulation. Outside of class, she enjoys creating digital artwork, exploring new music genres and attending teach-ins!
