Tami Gjorgjieva

Tami Gjorgjieva (she/her) is a Genetics PhD candidate studying how natural selection shapes human genetic variation and gene regulation. Her broader work explores the ethical, legal and social dimensions of human genetics research and its applications in society. To this end, she co-led the design and teaching of GENE 220: Introductions to Genetics, Ethics, and Society in the School of Medicine for two years. Passionate about global research capacity building, she has been collaborating with the Tanzania Human Genetics Organization to build a mentorship program and deliver bioinformatics training to students in Tanzania. Tami grew up in North Macedonia and received a B.S. in Biology from New York University Abu Dhabi.
