Nicole is a Ph.D. student in Religious Studies at Stanford University, focusing on American Religions. Her research examines secularism, race, and the carceral state in the United States, with recent projects interrogating the criminalization of racialized religious practices in the late twentieth century. Nicole is an EDGE Fellow, a Center for Ethics in Society graduate fellow, and the graduate student coordinator of the Critical Carceral Studies Collective, a Stanford Humanities Center research workshop. She received her M.A. in the History of Christianity from Yale Divinity School and her B.A. in Religious Studies from Bard College.
