Wendy Salkin
Wendy Salkin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Stanford University, where she is also an Assistant Professor, by courtesy, of Law, and a Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society, the Program in Modern Thought and Literature, and the Clayman Institute for Gender Research. Her research is in political philosophy, philosophy of race, and philosophy of law, and intersects with questions in moral philosophy and feminist philosophy. Before coming to Stanford, Salkin was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at San Francisco State University.
Salkin holds a PhD in Philosophy from Harvard University, a JD from Stanford Law School, and a BA in Philosophy and Africana Studies from New York University. She has served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Rosemary Barkett and the Honorable Judge Adalberto Jordan on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Miami, Florida, and as a legal adviser to Judge Barkett on the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague.
Her award-winning book, Speaking for Others: The Ethics of Informal Political Representation, was published by Harvard University Press on July 9, 2024.
